Annie Auckland

BIO

Born and raised in Toronto, I feel fortunate to have lived in 7 countries during a long and active life. A rewarding 40+year career in teaching, in Toronto and internationally, provided inspiration and images to apply to my painting. Retirement and COVID presented the opportunity to get out my watercolours and enjoy country living in the beautiful Beaver Valley with husband Ron Auckland.

I have been painting all my adult life. I studied at O.C.A. and have enjoyed many summer weeks of plein air sessions with notable artists in several Ontario locations.I work mainly in watercolours, but use the paint in a very controlled way, using egg tempera techniques of many glazes. I prefer to paint landscapes and old buildings..Many of the scenes are from the Beaver Valley and from my travels. I exhibited several years at the Toronto Art Exhibition at City Hall, the St.Lawrence Market Art Show, and the Cabbagetown Art Festival. Since COVID I have shared a show at the Flesherton Library, and participated in the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting show and sale in Thornbury.
