Carol Sebert is a painter based in Flesherton, Ontario.
Their practice focuses on landscape and still life, working primarily in oil. Their landscape work explores colour and texture, while their still life practice focuses on the exploration of objects, their forms, and their relationships to one another.
They have formal training through OCA and Sheridan College.
Their work has been exhibited in group shows at the Craig Gallery, LE Shore Gallery, Flesherton Art Gallery, and Back Lane Studio. They are a three-time award recipient at the Ontario Outdoor Art Exhibition, including Best of Art Fair.
Currently, they are working on their still life practice, exploring objects in relation to their purpose. Their work focuses on well-worn tools that reflect the owner’s work and interests, as well as clothing that carries a sense of the person who wore it. Sebert considers both as portraits of those who owned them, using objects to reflect the lives and identities of their owners.

Artist Statement
In my landscape work, which is always inspired by plein air painting (I don’t use a camera), I try to express the temperature and the feeling of being in the land, the cool wind or the heat of a summer day. In my studio work, most recently, I consider the subjects “portraits” of well-worn tools used in craftsmanship, or dresses chosen by a person that reflect how they want to be seen.
