BIO
Cindy Norton is a painter / sculptor / mixed media artist based in Kimberley &Flesherton, Ontario, Canada.
Their practice focuses on expressionist, surrealist - portraiture and figurative. They work primarily in acrylic paint, collage, assemblage, found objects, kinetic structures.
Their work explores the tension between what is seen and what lies beneath, creating images that are layered, shifting, and open to interpretation.
They have a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art and Sociology, B.Ed., M.A. Sociology of Art
Their work has been exhibited in galleries, group shows, solo exhibitions and is held in private collections throughout Ontario.
Currently, they are working on a new body of work and continue to develop their practice through studio work and research.

Artist Statement
My paintings emerge through a process of discovery, moving between expressionism and realism as each work finds its own direction. I am interested in the tension between what is seen and what lies beneath, creating images that are layered, shifting, and open to interpretation. Drawing on symbolism, fragments of lived experience, and cultural references, I hope the work invites viewers to pause, look again, and find their own meaning within the paintings.
