David Marshak is a painter based in Kimberley, ON, Canada. Their practice focuses on rural and urban landscape. They work primarily in oil paint, gouache, acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink and clay.

Their work explores light and shadow, focusing on a level of realism that stops short of photo-realism, instead embracing what some call hyper realism. The intent is to portray subject matter in a way that employs aspects of impressionism to create a feeling in which the viewer may be able to 'smell the air' or 'feel the breeze' instead of rendering every single leaf, blade of grass or wave in explicit detail. David's body of work is mainly rural and urban but he also produces portraiture and graphic cartoons.

They have a diploma from the Ontario College of Art, class of '93. Their work has been exhibited in dozens of group and solo shows since 1994, and shown in many galleries and fairs. They are represented by Roberts Gallery, Toronto, Details Gallery, PEI and James Baird Gallery, Newfoundland.

Their work is held in several private and corporate collections including The Molson family, the Eaton family, and Scotiabank Capital. Private collections include Gord Downie, Sarah Harmer, Hayden, Ed Robertson, Terry O'Reilly, Shelagh Rogers and Laurie Brown.

Currently, maintains a daily studio practice supplying galleries with new work and having solo shows while fitting in multimedia work when there is time.

David is immersed in full time creative pursuits including making 'albums' of all original songs. David's main focus is is in the studio with occasional forays into plein air work.
