Kathleen Heithorn-Althoff is a Mixed Media Artist based in Kimberley, Ontario.

Their practice focuses on primary subject matter includes flowers that I grow, abstract landscapes and weather observation. They work primarily in digital photography, lino print, oil and acrylic paints, often incorporating specifically printing photographs and lino prints on textured heavy cardstock and recycled cotton rag paper; painting on wood veneers and wood boards.

Kathleen’s photography, lino cut prints and paintings are informed by years of close observation of the natural world, shaped by her experiences as a sailor on the Atlantic Ocean and as a gardener. Her work focuses on the visual qualities of landscapes, water, weather, and plant life, examining how natural elements change through light, scale, and perspective.

They are self-taught with part-time education through the School of Image Arts at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) and Bachelor's Degree in Art History from Western University

Their work has been exhibited in the School of Image Arts, Toronto Metropolitan University, LE Shore Gallery in Thornbury, Ontario, Newmarket Old Town Hall in Newmarket, Ontario, and Kimberley Hall in Kimberley, Ontario as part of the Art in the Valley Annual Exhibit. She is currently exhibiting (2026) at Cruickston Park, Cambridge, Ontario, through their annual Art Programme.

Currently, they are working on acrylic and oil paintings of local landscapes, expanding into formal education in lino cut printing.

They are interested in planning to experiment with the combination of printing photography and combining it with machine embroidery, and continue to develop their practice through research, studio work and online masterclasses.
