Raymond Macdonald

DISRUPTED REALISm,  PAINTER AND SCULPTOR

Raymond Macdonald

BIO

After a brief time with the open program at Ontario College of Art in the late sixties I left to follow a number of OCA teachers to the University of Guelph Fine Art program to study in a more structured environment that involved the study of anatomy and medical dissection, as well as drawing, printmaking and sculptural technique. This certainly informed and fuelled my interest in expressing my art through the human form as entity and essence, an enclosure of the soul. The cracks and gashes in my work create exits for that soul as translated through expressionistic treatment of line, form and colour eventually joining in a style akin to early 21st century disputed realist painters who are "disrupting" figurative painting with technology, technique and memory-inspired alterations.
